The first time that I heard of the wines of Stagecoach Vineyards was from a customer of Cafe Maxx, someone was holding out on me as after acquiring the wines for that customer, I tasted the wines and they have been on my “best of” list every year. I met Jan Krupp just as serendipitously at the bar of Gary Danko restaurant while I had stopped in last minute while in town for a long weekend and just happened to overhear his conversation with another patron about owning a vineyard in Napa Valley and my curiosity got the best of me and I had to ask what the name of the Vineyard was and when he mentioned Stagecoach, my eyes lit up and exclaimed I am Andrew Lampasone from the Wine Watch and Jan said- you are our biggest fan in Florida. So you can imagine I am very excited about having Jan in town for an event that will be hosted by the folks that turned me on to this outstanding producer. Chef Oliver Saucy has prepared a special five course tasting menu to accompany the new releases. The fee for this dinner is $125 per person + tax,

Friday, March 12th - Old Vintage Big Bottle Dinner at Café Maxx 7pm
Each of these unique tasting experiences are sure to raise the bar even further for our "once in a lifetime" series of wine dinners from the Wine Watch. Not only are these epic vintages of classic producers wines, but everything we will experience at these Old Vintage Big Bottle events will be out of magnum and 3 liter format. Why does this make these events so special? Magnum (1.5 Liter) & 3 liter format is considered by those in the know to be the best format for bottling wine when considering the longevity and freshness for wines that are to be cellared for a very long time. My experience has been that wines served from out of magnum and 3 liter format are always fresher and better preserved than wines served from 750ml format. This also adds value to these wines as collectibles, since there are far less magnums and 3 liter bottles produced than 750mls, so over time they become exponentially more valuable. The line-up of BIG BOTTLES this evening includes: 1959 Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou St. Julien 1959 Chateau Cantemerle Haut Medoc, 1962 Chateau Latour Pauillac,1959 Chateau La Mission Haut Brion Pessac Leognan, 1959 Chateau Lynch Bages Pauillac, 1962 Chateau Latour Pauillac, 1964 La Mission Haut Brion Pessac Leognan, , 1970 Chateau Trotanoy Pomerol. Chef Oliver Saucy will be sending out a few small courses to accompany the tasting wines and we will be ordering off the menu for dinner. This event is limited to 16 people and the fee for this dinner is $895 per person all-inclusive, for reservations call 954-523-9463

Wednesday, April 21st - Bordeaux Wine Tasting at Cafe Maxx 6:30 PM
Bordeaux has become one of my favorite subjects as well as one of my favorite areas of the wine world to travel to. I have been there six times to taste the new releases and love the restaurants, bars and people that I have met during this time. I am a bit disappointed that we have not been able to offer our customers Bordeaux futures for the last two years, but hopefully we will be back in the game this year. Tonight we will be showing wines from 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 vintage. Chef Oliver Saucy will be sending out a few small courses to accompany the tasting wines. The fee for this event is $35 + tax, for reservations call 954-782-0606.

Friday, April 23rd - Opus One Vertical Tasting at Cafe Maxx 7pm
This is the second time that we will be hosting a tasting featuring every vintage in consecutive concession from the 1979 through to the recently released 2006 vintage. Opus One began in the 1970's when Robert Mondavi had the idea of creating a joint venture with one of the top names in the wine industry in Bordeaux, Baronne Philipe Rothschild from Chateau Mouton Rothschild. His dream became one of the most successful wineries ever. Even though The Mondavi's are no longer involved in this winery and it still continues to sell for more than any wine from California with a similar production level. Opus One is arguably one of the greatest marketing and branding examples of the 20th century for the wine industry. All of the wines for this tasting come from one collectors cellar and we will taste every vintage of Opus One made to date from 1979-2006- a total of 28 vintages in all. This tasting will be conducted in two parts and dinner will be served along with the 2nd portion of the tasting. The cost of this event is $595 per person all inclusive, for reservations call 954-523-9463.
