WE ARE OPEN
Since the beginning of Café Maxx 36 years ago, we have always placed an emphasis on the health and safety of our guests and staff. The COVID-19 pandemic has required us to raise our demanding standards to an even higher level. I am seeing so much anxiety about resuming business.
So as the restaurant looks to ramp back up, it is time to plan on how to manage change and reopen our doors. I have gathered resources, tips and guidance to help me navigate every aspect of my business. I will continue to update and enhance my plans as time goes on.
Restaurant management is a demanding affair; re -opening a restaurant in the face of a global pandemic promises to be complex and challenging. There will be laws and recommendations to comply with from numerous sources. The landscape will change quickly with every news cycle, evolving public sentiment and updates to public health information. The process will involve people’s livelihoods and emotions, from managers, employees to suppliers and customers. There is no single flowchart or checklist, and every restaurant and locale is unique.
Reopening guidelines come from many sources, including the federal government, CDC, FDA, state and local governments, and trade organizations. They range from law, to recommendations and implicit standards. This is true even from a single source: for example, some state regulations may say “consider,” “if feasible,” or “where practical.”
The broad requirements and recommendations cover many areas. Café Maxx will be focusing on daily enhanced cleaning and disinfecting for safety, social distancing and removing all communal items. We will be taking temperatures, along with checking symptoms and as always hand washing, to ensure a safe environment for employees and customers alike. Our wait staff will be wearing face masks and gloves. We will have hand sanitizer stations and also provide disposable, single-use menus and sanitizer to each table prior to the meal arrival.
Café Maxx is ready to welcome you back and we are committed to a safe and clean environment for all. If we have learned anything during this pandemic, it is that we are all in this together.
